Planning a season in Wellington or Ocala

A practical starting checklist for housing, boarding, transport and arrival dates.

Start with the dates that matter

Write down your intended season, show or training commitments, number of horses, preferred area and budget. Identify what is flexible before requesting availability.

Choose the home and horse arrangements together

Ask property professionals and barns about availability, access dates, terms, horse care, turnout, trainer policies and receiving contacts. A suitable home alone does not complete the plan.

Get written provider details

Confirm horse transport and moving estimates, inclusions, deposits, cancellation terms, storage needs and possible extra charges with the providers themselves.

Prepare the destination

Confirm feed, hay, bedding and equipment needs with the care team. Discuss the appropriate travel documents with your veterinarian and carrier; verify current requirements before departure.

Check the handover

Share approved arrival details with the receiving contacts. Record which dates are confirmed, who can authorize changes and what happens if transport is delayed.
