Understanding your horse import quote

Questions to ask before comparing prices or committing to a route.

What does the quoted journey cover?

Ask whether the price includes collection from the departure barn, staging, flight, handling, U.S. arrival, quarantine and delivery to the final barn. Identify any separate invoices.

Which veterinary and entry costs are separate?

Request clarity on examinations, testing, certification, permits, inspection, customs services and any additional quarantine. Your appointed specialists must confirm the applicable requirements.

What could change the total?

Ask about extra quarantine days, retesting, changed flights, storage, additional ground transport, currency changes and provider cancellation terms. Request written explanations of contingencies.

How do insurance and payment work?

Ask your insurer about the horse’s proposed journey and effective cover. Confirm who invoices you, when payment is due and who can authorize extra charges. Insurance and tax advice belong with qualified advisers.

How will you compare proposals?

Compare the same route, scope, exclusions and assumptions. A lower flight price may cover fewer services. LEV’s planning and coordination fee is separate from provider charges unless expressly agreed.

This is a planning overview, not individual veterinary or customs advice. Your appointed professionals must verify current requirements for the horse and route.
